As far as I know the brake light comes on for few reasons but in most cases it is brake fluid level is low. Another reason is the emergancy brake lever, there should be some sort of switch somewhere there that turns the light on when you apply emergency brake. Another reason would be if the sensor is plug in on the master-cylinder, or maybe it broke or something shorted out. But to be safe the first thing you check is for brake fluid level. If your low and run out, you will lose your brakes. Good luck
