Mobile Emissions Vans

The other morning I was getting onto I-225 southbound, and there was one of those mobile emissions vans set up on the ramp. I was wondering how accurate those really were. Are they just looking for gross offenders (no cat) or is it forcing compliance with the actual emissions standards. I assume they would have to be more forgiving since there are going to be cars in front and behind, and since they aren't testing in the same conditions they would at an emissions station. Also, if your cat was not fully warmed up that would hurt you as well.

Anyway, I will get to my real question. I am running a high flow cat from Tommy at SC. It is bigger than some (i.e. Buschur), but I am still not sure how good it does. Do you think I am going to get a notice in the mail from that mobile van? My car was fully warmed up. I think that they just force you to go to an emissions station and get tested, but I wasn't sure. This was my first encounter with one of those vans.

Thanks,

Matt
