It's SO BAD for your engine/transmission to shift at low RPMs! It forces it to work harder to get the RPMs up, but you never really do cuz then you make your next shift. Which makes your engine constantly work harder, an' puts a lot of load on your tranny. You're better off shifting at about 3k rpm to save A L'il gas. The "power band" is at about 5.5k-6.5k, which won't save gas, obv'. Normal shifting for me is in between 3.5k and 4k, 'round town. But yeah, 6k-7k when I'm "leanin'" on some foo'!
