No offense, but thats pretty awesome (not your misfortune, just how many people get to say that their ipod spontaneously combusted into a fireball)
I think you need to call Apple's corporate and see about getting a new one for free, might get a little compensation as well for your troubles if you raise a little hell about it bursting into a fireball, being a safety issue and all especially since I see little kids with them all the time.
