yeah, the exhaust manifold would be on the wrong part of the block if im not mistaken... look at this picture.
even though the exahust manifold is in the same part of the engine bay on the eclipse, the orientation of the evo 8 block would make it quite a job, if not impossible to swap into an eclipse. oh, the bottom end on the evo 8 motor is also all forged, i think, but im not 100% sure about that, ill do some reasearch and let you know.

That would be the HEAD that the exhaust manifold is mounted to, not the block. The EVO block has the same crank shaft as the DSM's (that was the only forged part in the DSM rotating assembly), but has forged rods. It has cast pistons like the DSM's, just a higher compression ratio. Like I said, you can use an EVO block in your DSM without a problem, just bolt your stock head onto it and off you go..... but it would still be cheaper to build up your stock engine.
