SCCA ProSolo National Finale (pics)

I didn't take many pics, but here are some of the SM class after the first session. We're in order of placement following session 1. There's one bonus pic at the end, since I wasn't sure what the heck kinda car that was...

All 5 cars (8 drivers)

Daddio in 1st, Sias in 2nd, me in 3rd

Me and Navid/Pippen side-by-side (Navid passed me up and jumped to 2nd pushing me to 4th in the final standings)

Me and Pippen washing up the morning of the final Pro session (3rd)

The Faucett-moblie - badass

Rearview

Thanks to Exedy and Buschur

Mazda?

I finished 4th out of 8, but only the top 3 got trophies and only the top 3 got contingency money. Close, but no cigar! However, ProSolo is the best ever - I don't even want to do regular auto-x anymore, hah. Side-by-side drag launching with a sportsman tree is unbeatable...

Congrats!

Did you get your 11sec slip while down there? Of course, assuming you're back.

For whatever reason, the drag strip portion of the complex was closed the whole time. I couldn't believe they didn't even have at least one Test'n'Tune the whole 8 days I was there. In fact, they were closed for a whole month, so my only guess is that with all the SCCA National events (autox and circuit), they close off the drag strip so as not to have any conflicts.

I can tell you one thing - the car was BALLLLLLLLLLLLZ fast even with 3 passengers and luggage going uphill on interstate ramps. 11s would have been cake...

Are the ProSolo's going to come to Colorado eventually? They sound like a lot of fun.

We had one last year (2006), but when we lost the DIA lot, we had nowhere else to host a National-level event. We're vying to have the National Tour come through again in 2008, but our best lot would probably be World Arena, which means there's no way to do a dual-course Pro (side-by-side launches). We could still do a single-course Pro (one at a time) and/or a Tour event (regular Solo but with contingency money for top 3 finishers in each class).

Looks like you had a blast and I'm betting you'll be in for a cigar next time around

Hey Clay
Nice running.
Are widebody kits allowed in SM class? If so why are the Evo's not running WB kits and fitting 315s instead of 'measily' 285s?

That STi there has a widebody kit and 315s, but the class champion for both the ProSolo and Solo II was Mark Daddio in an Evo RS with stock body panels and 285s. He doesn't think the extra width of the 315s is worth the extra rotational mass at this level of power. He proved it wasn't necessary, but that's not necessarily proof that he wouldn't be faster on the same setup with 315s.
