Hyundai's attempt at the tuner stage...

Was browsing facebook of all places.. and come across this.. i dont watch much tv so i dunno if Hyundai is actively advertising the vehicle... It's the Genesis 2.0T R-SPEC... or tack spec... just from reading bits on the net it appears that hyundai built this specifically for the tuner....Hyundai Genesis Coupe: Affordable Performance 300+hp Sport Coupe | Hyundai

Was just curios to see if anyone else has seen one on the road.. i have yet to see one in the Hampton Roads area... Im curious to see how the car holds up in the tuner game.. Probably be more competition to dodge's SRT-4.. especially for the price... not bad at all..

yes it was being advertised all over, rhys millen has a couple show stoppers that will step onto the track. the 2.0l turbo in the car is a evo x motor with a very small turbo, and they have already done a lot with the car in the aftermarket. this car is not really a competitor for the srt-4 because the srt-4 is fwd and this genesis is rwd. i think the hyundai built right will hook better then a srt-4 on the track. also why would you want a fwd srt-4 when you can a rwd coupe with a evo x motor. lots of botlon upgrades available and you can go sideways! I see a few where i'm at. also the 3.8l is great power out of the box, if your not looking to upgrade a lot.

i mean competition in the sales aspect.. definately not in straight line performance.. rwd vs a fwd with no limited slip... there's no competition there... i see srt-4s everywhere out here.. its a moderately priced turbo car... decent bang for the buck... at the time they came out they were cheaper brand new than most used evos and STI's... i didnt know it was an evoX motor.. that definately makes sense.. i believe the 90's accents were non-turbo 2.0L mitsubishi motors.. i had the privelage of seeing a couple with 6-Bolt 4g63 swaps..

i would rock a rwd any day over a fwd. srt-4s are cheap becuase they are just a neon. they are not meant to corner like a evo or sti. the srt-4's are in no way competition for the evo, sti, or even the genesis. and as far as sales just look the srt-4 is no longer being made, and its replacement caliber srt-4 with a evo x variant motor is also done with production. Look at hyundais sales lately and check recent addtions of car and driver and even the dsport guide to cars released a couple months ago.

It sucks..300hp isn't shit if its 95% untunable..David Buschur and Big Al have been at it sense the damn thing came out..Jrod at Buschur bought one and well its not going too smooth..
