hey every1,

so im new here to the forums and new to the evo's. im used to driving my 02 civic si but recently 05/24 i was involved in a major accident. so my baby was totaled

. walked out with both lower legs broken n left wrist broken n fractured ribs. im home now trying to get back to driving. so i decided to get a bigger car now n decided to go with the evo 9. dont know much bout mitsu's so hope i can learn more through this forums. i did some research already and found out that the evo 9 mr cant handle alot of power. im gonna use the car for dd and sometimes track. so would the mr fit more for me or just the base evo 9? not looking to make a gain of hp since imma use it for dd.

I would get the MR if you have the cash..Plus you can't not mod these cars its impossible!!Sorry for your accident mane!Get better soon!

I mean tthat you cannot keep these stock..You just can't you WILL want more power its inevitable!

^^ I think he was joking, anyway if your not going for drag racing or for High HP numbers the Mr is a awesome car overall. Good luck with your purchase, if you find one that modified, get all the specs, mods and facts before you purchase.

I agree. I told myself (and my wife) through and through that I wasnt going to mod the Evo when I first bought it.....three days later I was installing intake and exhaust on it.

Edit: BTW, if you seriously dont plan on modding the car at all, get the MR. The 6-speed is great for DD.

when i get it, i dont plan on going all out just basic bolt ons and a tune. if i do plan goin for more power i will mos def switch the tran to 5spd. money wont b an issue since i will b getting a fat check from the accident haha. found decent used ones on autotrader but than i found some new 06 evo mr at a dealer. so i might pick up a fresh new one since money wont be a prob.

Just out of curiosity, why would you buy the MR, just to swap a 5-speed tranny into it?? Waste of money IMO. Honestly, just do like I did, if you want the perks of having an MR, but want a 5-speed, buy a 2006 Evo SE.

i wanted the mr for dd kuz of the 6speed. i dont plan on going all out. im just saying that if i do i would swap to a 5spd kuz i knoe the 6spd wont handle more than 400. im pretty sure im gonna keep the 6spd kuz i wanna make it a reliable dd with just the basic bolt ons and a good tune. i get what ur saying, if my plans were to make over 400 than ya the mr would be a dumb choice.

the difference between the 6spd and 5 spd is only 200rpm a 70mph...it doesnt even feel lke you have a 6spd car trust me i have driven one,i say get a gsr or se with a 5spd and call it a day.

^^ the 6spd gearing is great for certain types of racing or tracking, but this is in mild bolt on form, anymore then that you should get the 5spd and if your going to drag race. but even then if you want some higher speeds you will need longer gears since the 5spd 4th gear really doesn't go that high in the evo 9's.
