Why you got your Evo?

Lets hear why people bought their Evo... Cost, fun, looks, speed, handling, racing etc.

I bought mine after I returned from 2 yrs in Japan. They had just come here, and the Ford dealership w/o even looking at me, said I couldn't afford an 03 Cobra. STi, I didn't like, the SRT4 was/is FWD.

As soon as I sat in it at the dealership I was sold. I didn't even want to test drive it, I just wanted one. Plus it had adjustable headlights and an intercooler sprayer!!!! How cool is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I told myself I wouldn't mod it............

Well usally people buy evo's, is for racing! Thats why I bought my. I dont care that it has a cheap interior, although is the one of best handling sedan, the only one . If I wanted something for the daily driving, I would get a wrx, or cobalt ss, heck I'll stil get an evo

The only reason I got an Evo was because I needed back seats for kids. I had a modded 2g Eclipse (which I do miss dearly to this day ), but when the backwards baby seat was in the back there was no room for my wife's legs . I knew I had to have a 4g63 car and low an behold the Evo came out. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread; room for kids and a 4g motor...
You can't go wrong.

I bought an Evo, because it was simply the best match for my driving style next to a GT3. Handling, balance, braking, steering, speed, driving dynamics, and a direct connection with the machine are what I look for.

I bought it after I drove one. I was not a beliver when they first came over. I went for a test drive for a goof and I was impressed. Fast forward to a now defunct magazine Speed. They had an article about the "superfast Evo", the Evo MR. That was the Evo for me I thought.

I had a GSX that was in need of an overhaul and I thought the Evo MR would be just as fast without modding. Wrong!! I have modded the Evo more than I modded the GSX. I got caugh up in the magazine hype machine. The 2005's were not that much faster then the 2003-2004s...

While it is faster, I liked the way the GSX looked more. I thought I would warm up to the wing on the Evo.....I miss my GSX too!!!

Oh yeah, then they came out with the IX that was better than the 05's...That's Evolving I guess.

Like others here, I too had a GSX. Unfortunately it was taken from me by a lady in a SUV insurance called me up and said it was totalled. Didn't think anything would cheer me up and I started looking for another dsm. While looking for another car, I saw a couple evo's and thought... hey, it's like a gsx's big brother but with 4 doors. And with a kid on the way it was a done deal heh. Told myself I wouldn't do anywhere near as much as the gsx (e16g, etc...) and just put a BR or AMS tbe on and leave it for a while... that didn't last too long haha

I bought mine because I only paid $8250 for it.

To cheap to pass up. Thus, making it the cheapest running Evo.

The silver Evo is my car.

Someone faulted on a loan. Then it got repo'd and the company I used to work for told me to make and offer. I told them 9k. They replied take it. I went to get a loan and told them $8250 and they said ok. It has 53k on it. And is running strong still.

I love it. It was so cheap that I was able to keep my DSM and CSM.

wanted one ever since i've been tinkering around with dsm's and after i saw a decked out evo IV in the philippines. drove a decked out 03 and i had to have one. so i bought a super clean 04 GSR did a few mods flash, TBE, MBC, then the IX came out and i got dusted by my friend's bone stock IX. test drove a IX and was shocked at how much smoother and quieter the car was than my VIII and this was the RS. the addition of the front LSD with the ACD really helped out cornering vs. my 04 so i made up my mind and sold my 04 and got a 06 RS.

Well the main reason was to buy a new car that is not going to leave me standing like my 2g did when it walked. Another reason was to not waste money on something that is not going to be worth while car for me, so it ment to be fast, handel and look good and on top of it, it had to be modeble. And in the end, 06 Evo is the last year 4g63 to come out of Mitsubishi so, I just had to have it. It is a piace of history.
