Hello all!

Name is Jorge.

Very nice forum you guys have here. I did some searching but couldn't find the exact info I was looking for. I'm trying to figure out which would be more cost effective to reach 400whp.

I currently own a 2004 VW R32, 3.2L V6,6-Speed,AWD, rated at 240hp. I paid 19,500 for the R. And found to reach 400whp in the R it will cost me roughly $6500. This is with buying a turbo kit. So that roughly amounts to 26000 bones.

I was looking through the classified and found the I can get a decent EVO IX for around 20-24k(I would also consider a earlier model to accommodate price efficiency) Now how much money roughly would I have to put into the Evo to attain 400whp?

Both cars are amazing cars, and I've been driving VWs for a long time I need a change of pace, but I need to find out if its cost efficient to switch to a different platform or keep what I got and turbo it.

Thanks in advance for the input, it will help determine what I should do.

With an Evo, you can easily install intake, exhaust, and meth and make 400hp on the stock turbo. You wont be able to do it on pump gas alone though. Cams will help you a bit as well. Last but not least, a beast tune.

a r32 vs. a evo....... a evo makes power very easily and you can push the stock turbo over 400whp with all the bolt ons and maybe some alky. I havent seen a r32 that could keep up with a evo, not at least around here.

i think evos are cheaper to make them fast, but the r32 is a much better dialy driver

^^^There's nothing like an exhaust note of an R32. VR6 engines just sound so sexy! I've seen a twinturbo charged R32 in person. And honestly, i don't think that a 400-500HP Evo would be able to keep up with a 500HP TwinTurbo charged R32. Don't get me wrong I love my evo. But if i were given a choice on which one to fix up i'd go with the R32.

how much is it to twin turbo a r32 and make reliable 500whp r32? i think its easier and can be just as deadly with the stock frame turbos built for the evo nowadays. And the evo isnt plagued with electrical gremlins like a lot of european lines. just my thoughts on it. I am very biased towards the vw's, i would def pass up a r32 for a evo.
