06 Mr Bov

Are the BOVs on the MRs different than on the regular 8 and 9s? I have heard comments but cannot find any answers or pics. Is it like the 1g DSM metal valve that you could "crush"? Are the stock ones more like a plastic Bosch off an audi?

if yours is black its plastic..... your car is a 06 and they came with metal ones unless yours was swapped out for some reason. The evo IX BOv is great but it does leak at higher boost. It actually has a built in passage to leak..... 03-05 Plastic BOV 06 Metal. Take a pic and post it and i can tell you. You can crush them but you wont gain a lot of performance because of the built in leak.

Its the jdm bov's that were metal just go to an online vender and buy one or just get one that allows you to recirculate.

why do they have a built in leak? Only for extreme pressure to protect the motor a little more?

The 06 evo Ix's here in the U.S came with the same one as the JDM cars. It is metal and can be ordered from any dealer or just snag one real cheap from someone who went with a different setup.

As for the built in leak, who knows why they did it. Maybe for overboost protection in the event that your wastegate doesn't open up...... Good safety feature but not if your going for big power with very high boost....My buddy ran his to to 27psi now he has a tial with a standalone, 2.33l, 35r and alky....
