didn't they change the motor in the IX (not 4G63 based), or am I wrong? Thought that was what all the let down of the 06 was going to be?

It's still a 4g63, but with MIVEC; Mitsubishi's variable intake valve timing.

Recently rid of my dsm

You post a really good question, and if you read dsmtuner.com you find that same question posted over and over.

10k in your gsx would put you easily into the 10's, FPgreen, shep tranny, and some spray and your going to make an evo eater. You will always have the dsm bugs though, they never end, and I hate to tell you that if you put 10k into your gsx you will only find that there is a lot more problems you will find. The more power you make the more stuff that breaks.

If you get the new MR, which I have found very difficult to find, and your willing to have the payments, and have any extra money laying around to do the day to day mods, you will have a nicer, cleaner, better running car, just not near as fast.

So do you want looks/comfort, or just sheer speed that might break down on you? For 10k you could probably come close to 600hp in your GSX, but for 35K in your MR you are still only going to have 250hp, and a 25k payment

I know that I'm a little off topic by using my example, but I had a 93 RX7TT and it was nothing but problems and of course fast as f@#$, so I thought about it for a while.....eventually I went ahead and did it and except for the fact that it's slower, I am completely happy. Now, I can't picture myself driving anything except the evo. My wife can barely get it off of my hands by letting me drive her car (s2000). Nothing imo compares. I'd get the evo.

Get the EVO MR

I agree with K2bigg88. Why not start fresh? This GSX is about 15 yrs old. And you said it yourself,...It breaks once a week. Yea, you'll have a new car note and everything but I think it's worth it by far. You should try to get rid of it now while you can still sell. Putting more $ into it will pus you further from a sale cuz there aren't too many people who would wanna buy somebody elses work unless they have a great reputation for it.

The 06 MR would look very nice sitting in your drive way. I absolutely love the 1st gen eclipse/talon/laser so i would test drive the mr and see which one tickles your fancy.

I had a 1998 GSX with all the basic bolt ons for two years, then I bought my Evo, now also with the basic bolt ons..... I don't miss that GSX one bit and never regretted selling it. As far as I know, the Evo would be a far more reliable car than that dsm. Get the MR.

Once you start modding either one all bets are off. I had my DSM for 8 years; turbo upgrade, supporting mods, one water pump, two timing belts, one clutch upgrade, one battery, and 130K plus. It's maitenence.
Let's see what I get out of this Evo.

True, true..... I'd like to know what the Evo does at high mileage, even in stock form? I just don't want to be the one to find out:-)
