The more and more I play with ECUflash, the more and more I feel there will always be a place for AFC's. From a DIY standpoint;
Flashing does offer great control, across the entire driving range of the car... and it's practicaly free. However in half the time I could have been romping the car very safely with an AFC and 650's (maybe it's just because I'm new to flashing

).
For people who want to learn and are just getting into tuning, the AFC is a great first step. It was for me anyways, you learn the critical relationships, and it makes good power.
Yea, you can pay for someone elses maps, but what have you really learned. Are you comfortable making additional changes where you need it?
ECUflash is great. I love working with it. However, if I was just staring out and don't like monkeys touching my car; S-AFC is the way to go.
