CEL thrown

OK, let me start with the basics. I just bought a 2006 Evolution MR from a private seller. The car had 6,900 miles on it. I got an oil change at 7,800 miles and now it has 8,800. The car has a boost controller and a new turbo back exhaust with a cat delete. It also has a new Walbro fuel pump. The car has been supposedly 'tuned'.

Now, I went to P&L Motorsports (they specialize in WRX Sti's but they have a Dyno and I wanted to know the car specs before I start adding onto it). So the car puts down 290 HP to the wheels and about the same torque. Everything went smoothly during the dyno.

Three days later (today) I get in my car and I see the dreaded 'Service Engine Soon' lit up. I take it to autozone and it throws code P0300 which supposedly means a cylinder misfire was detected, random cylinders.

I read that P0300 is common when someone tunes the ECU, anyone have any more details? I was planning on stopping by AMS and letting them deal with it -- but information first is better .

Thanks!

"Enthusiasts have also experienced stock ignition coil failures or ignition misfires after extended road course activity." thats from slowboy racing, im kinda going through the same thing except i got po335 which is a crank position sensor malfunction, which for some reason wont give you a spark, so i have no spark... its either that or its my coils, slowboy says that they start failing at increased boost levels, im looking at the Switzer Performance Innovation Coil-On-Plug CDI (Capacitive Discharge Ignition) the 1299 price tag is holding me back lol which is where i found all this, on their website, hope this helps just telling you what i know

P0300 could mean a lot of different things. Yes the code is for Random misfire. I get it and it was a more commen on the 03ish models. Do you know who tuned your car and is there anyone in your area that has a evo or even ecuflash? The delaers offered a reflash for the 03's to fix the p0300 code but i didn't hear that for the 06's. Check your spark plugs, swap them out see if that helps. Also have someone check your timing at the crank just in case you don't want your motor to go boom and it has under 10k on it. This happened to me i kept getting the p0300 so i replaced coils, plugs and wires, well my timing tensionor was on its way out so the crank was 8* off from what i hear 9* is the magic number on the evos then it goes kaboom. I recently just had the light come on again and the car is missing under normal driving and high boost. I will checking it out today to see what the deal is.
