As long as your safe in your surroundings and can get a nice run up to about 90mph there is no harm in a street tune. 3rd gear is what I have always done and a lot ot tuners. maybe for your civic the 3rd gear doesn't hold up as well as the evo's. hondas are known to have some weak trannys. the evo has issues sometimes with 3rd-4th gear synchros. there is a write up on this site about ecuflash and how to use it. i reccomend getting someone who already knows how to use it show you the ropes.
