Engine Rotation

Engine rotation
What direction does the EV0 4-8 turn? Clockwise or counter-clockwise?

Lol...cool

Can't somebody look at their pulleys? If I had an Evo, I'd do it...but ya, anybody, go look at your pulleys...which way are they spinning?

No you can't fit an Evo VIII Engine in a NT DSM. I know the 420A configuration and the Evo VIII configuration look simlar as now the 4G63 is swapped the same way (rotated 180 Degrees), but it won't. I am sure it won't bolt up to the tranny, as it is a Dodge tranny and nothing to do with Mitsu. It would cost MASSIVE amounts of cash before you could get it to run right, you may as well build a 1G DSM AWD, parts are WAY cheaper and you can make them just as fast.

Thanks for the space.

L2RTSiAWD your from DSMTalk right? I LOVE your TSi AWD, I had one before I got my Evo, looked stock, even had stock wheels, but was pretty fast with a 50 trim.

Seriously, what is your IQ? Are you 10 years old? Can you read the question? Sorry if you are slow, but read before you post. Did I EVER state I was doing this swap? NO. I am simply trying to clarify a common misconception on another board, which is " What direction the engine turns."

Post in this thread again without answering the question stated and I'll once again report your post. Get a clue. Your mentality only reflects poorly upon the rest of EVO owners.

Yes 95stktrbo on dsmtalk. We both had mutts back in the day. You had a level1 and I had a level2.

Please keep you opinions about Morphius question to yourself.

Oh, ok he is some info then..

The Evo motor spins the same way as the USDM 4g63T did. Its the trannsmission that spins the opposite direction. An Eclipse 4G63T tranny has a counter rotating shaft to make the tranny spin in the right direction. the lancer evo eliminated this counter rotating shaft to reduce friction and enable the engine to be mounted passanger side for better weight distribution. Also seems to be lees drivetrain loss in the Evo, it is quite capable from a roll modded properly, hell pulls SRT's pretty good mod for mod.

This change happened in the evo4 in japan, 1996 i think, and in america in the mirage 1998.

There were also two other types of 4g64 engine, this was a 2.4 liter 4cyl that came in the galant, and now comes in the 2000 eclipse 4cyl
that motor was converted to reverse rotation in 99 in america, just like the evo4 was converted in 1996 in japan...
this motor also goes into the mirage because it bolts in just like an evo4 motor...

AS far as the Mutts, man I think that turbo was a Piece, mine never made the power I was looking for. It spooled SLOW as hell. I had my tuner check it out, turned out the blades where seated so tighly, that shaft play was impossible but it was creating friction. Plus teh car really never ran right after that, had good topend sometimes, poped and farted others, that turbo just did not work right.
