hey guys i am new to this forum. but i currently have an 06 s2k. i am planning to get an 2006 evo mr. i am looking for it but. what should i look for before buying. is it reliable ? how about miles do i have to worry about that please help me out. thanks the 06 mr owners please help
are you planning on making over 400-450whp? if so get a regular evo 5spd. The MR is great but in the quest for power you will end up switching to a 5spd. Look for low miles, no accidents, and never modded. I would look for a older owner who isn't into racing just loves to drive. My 03 evo has 143k on it with 400whp. No major issues ever. i got the car with 32k on it....
im new to the Evo in general but it seems as if this guy has something against MR's. i just bought one specifically because of the 6 speed. last i new a six speed was better for track performance... fill me in here
Well when you have to fit six gears in the same size transmission as the 5 speed the gears will be thinner and therefore weaker. I have an mr and I love the trans but I have thought I broke it several times shifting into 4th gear. They just can't handle the power the 5-speed can. SicLanEvo was just trying to tell him if he wants big power just save the money and get a rs or gsr.
it is better for quicker shifts and gear ratios but will not hold power like the 5spd.......I have nothing against the MR's its just the facts. For cars with basic boltons running either autocross or road racing events the MR is great. for drag racing, hardcore street racing, and more then 400-450whpish the 5spd is what you want....... Also look at who will rebuild the 6spd from the MR....No one that i have seen yet....Shep wont touch them, but will build you a killer 5spd with gears with custom gears if you want.
Nothing against any model of evo but the MR 6 spd has been proven not to hold Power even close to the 5spd. i guess thats also why they never made a 5spd in the eclipse or early model evo model.
weerd cause when i had an evo 8 with 568whp the tranny would blow out the reverse gear and it happen 2 times and i took it to the dealer to replace the parts evey time so i went with an mr in 2006 and its fine for now 16k on it so far with about 360 hp going to go gt35r and E85 soon and have it at about 600hp the tranys hold good as long as you have a lagy turbo

Reason: adding more
^^ just because you have a lagging turbo does not mean the tranny can hold it. I have numerous friends with MR's they have converted to the 5spd because the 6spd will not hold the power. It may do it for a little bit but will not do it as efficiently as a built 5 spd.

Ok so I have an 05 evo with 67,000 miles on it. It is %100 stock and plan on keeping it that way. So should i be worried about my mileage? How long do you think I have till my Evo needs a major repair? I actually already need one. It's my center diff, and i cannot seem to find one anywhere except the dealership and they wanna charge me $4,300

You made 2 threads and then posted the same thing in here. All you have to do is make ONE thread, someone will see it and most likely reply.
