EVO RS - What a great concept

Just wanted to post something about how much I love the idea of Mitsu making this RS model available. It makes perfect sense - take out all the luxury features and offer a car that flat-out performs and charge less for it. I'm really impressed with Mitsu's thinking here. They're making a great car even more affordable for the hardcore enthusiast - hopefully the other manufacturers take note.

It's the exact same car - no performance drop off - just luxury options were deleted, making the car lighter. It's not the same as the RS in the DSM world.

A great idea, pretty much every car magazine has ran a story about it. Being a car salesperson, Mitsu dealers won't be selling them for MSRP, probably at least $1000 over, but that still leaves it in the $27 range, a great buy

yes it is lighter but the test have shown it to be only 2 tenths faster. No AC power windows raido and wing to go 2 tenths faster? ummm no. not a good choice.

Really? I could have sworn I saw some better numbers than that... I can't remember which article it was though, so I can't be sure. I still love the concept - no frills, just performance - that's what it's all about for me.

from the article in sport compact it really kind of sounds like there really isnt an active center diff. but maybe its just worded wierd, to me. they also said that it would be available in an "URban Jungle" package, "...that adds AC, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, and keyless entry" i dunno that sounds like a sweet deal to me, too bad its not more like ehhhhh 17k!! hehe

No active center diff, it has the helical limited slip front diff though instead of the open front diff that is stock on the standard EVO.

ACD doesnt work well and is prone to failure. You should be glad you dont get that and the AYC crap! I have actually had to remove the AYC from my Evo 6 TME because it was so crap. Cost me several thousand Euros to do...
