This is my final mod list. Tell me what you think. If there's anything I need to add or something I don't need. What you think? It basically the Warrtalon stage 1 kit with the pure power package. (both Buschur) And some extras. If you can think of a better company for a product please post.
- Buschur Racing Turbo back Exhaust with Test Pipe
- Forge UNOS MBC
- Boost Gauge
- Forge Motorsports BOV
- Walbro 255lph fuel pump
- Buschur Stg1 Flash
- Bushur Racing Air Filter Kit with intake pipe
- HKS cams and New timing belt & tensioner
- Upper and lower I/C pipe
- Blitz turbo timer
- Weapon-R oil catch can
- Weapon-R Ignition Equalizer Kit (not sure about)
- Weapon-R engine damper
- Radiator Cap
- Cusco Type MZ front and rear LSD (or other brand)
- Cusco Twin plate clutch or Exedy Single Plate Organic Clutch (which would be better)
- Radiator shroud
- Sun Hyper Ground and Hyper voltage system
- NGK BPR7ES Spark Plugs x 4
- and Ralliart Thermostat
Well, many of the mods are good, but there's a whole slew of things on there that you don't need whatsoever and that really don't do anything, so you'll have to decide if you just want all those crazy random things or if you want to actually go with the package namesake of "pure power package."
Here it is line-by-line. If I don't mention something, that means I give full approval with no further comments:
- Forge BOV - be absolutely certain it's the Forge RS and not the regular direct replacment Forge BOV. The Forge RS has an adjustable knob on top, so that's how you know.
- Buschur filter is fine, but I really don't recommend going with a hard MAF pipe of any brand
- HKS cams are great. You can get GSC cams for $100 less at Total D. Up to you - both will make great power.
- Turbo timer not needed, but up to you.
- UICP not needed or helpful, but up to you (LICP is great)
- I do not recommend any of the Weapon-R stuff. Don't mess with that stuff. The catch can is ok, because it has nothing to do with the operation of the car really, but please steer clear of the engine damper.
- In place of a damper, use the Forge/Powerflex front motor mount, or the Buschur front motor mount. They are $40-50 and solve the problem at its source as opposed to adding weight in the attempt to hold the engine. The real problem is the stock front bushing is weak.
- It should be Cusco Twin or Exedy Twin HD...don't compare the Cusco Twin with Exedy Single. I _HIGHLY_ recommend the Exedy Twin HD.
- Radiator shroud? Heh, ok.
- Sun Hyper Voltage = very nice. Sun Hyper Ground - please do not waste your money on this junk
- On the flash, you'll want to get flashed for all those mods, so the BR stg1 flash won't be the same, but if you actually buy my package or the pure power package, the flash that comes with your package can just be changed to match your mods instead of paying for a separate one.
What you're missing that's far more important than the stuff I told you not to get is a ported manifold and aftermarket o2 housing. You can get the ported/coated stock manifold, ported/coated 10.5 hotside, and coated o2 housing all from Buschur. These are good power mods that reduce underhood temps, allow for more aggressive timing on pump gas due to lessened knock activity, and they look nice.
After these, alky injection would give you another 30-40whp and 50-60wtq with a big increase in boost for about $500. After the alky would be a nice upgraded FMIC. Other than that, you've got it all down pat for the stock turbo.
OK, here the list changed around. Would this be more of a "worth it" list? BTW: I though the TBE came with an o2 housing but if not I'll buy one. Warrtalon, I hear you run alky injection, can you tell me about that a little and what kit you use? Is there anything I need to add or need to buy to run safer? I'm hearing from people that I should get a light weight flywheel and ARP head studs? O, and for cams would 264 intake and 272 exhaust be a good choice?
Thanks for the help.

1) No, TBEs do not include o2 housings except in rare cases - just a downpipe, cat replacement, and cat-back.
2) I run the SMC progressive alky injection kit. It is the one that Buschur and Dynoflash sell, and it's $500. You have an 05, so you'd use the trunk mount kit. The 1-gallon tank and pump go in the driver's side rear fender well tucked away nicely. It has a stainless steel braided line that goes from the tank to the nozzle that gets plumbed into your UICP. You then get tuned for it to spray the alky when boosting heavily, which allows you to raise the boost pretty high (I run 26psi daily) and perform like being on race gas 24/7.
3) Definitely add the ARP head studs when the cams get installed.
4) Lightweight flywheel? Your Exedy Twin comes with a very lightweight flywheel attached, so no worries there.
5) Yeah, 264i/272e is fine. Pretty much any combination works - just depends on what sort of powerband you prefer. Don't forget that GSC cams are $100 less for the same performance.
- the SS O2 housing will be coated, but not ported - it's already mega-ported from the manufacturer
- Weapon-R ignition equalizer kit? No.
- Yes, add the BR Deluxe FMIC or BR Race FMIC - it will come in handy if you start running alky with mega boost
Anything else I need? Like I said up top, anything i forgot or need to run safer?
Thanks for all your help.
BTW: so ur saying the o2 housing is big enough? right
The coated SS o2 housing that Buschur sells is ridiculously ported already. Do not use your stock o2 housing (not even ported and coated). I don't see anything else you'd need. You'll have a lot more mods than I have when you're done with all this. I just keep things simple, easy, and cheap, but all that stuff should work out nicely.
I was going to edit the post really fast but your quick to respond. My questions was, I'm thinking of adding a knock sensor link and PLX M300 Wideband to this list and also where did you buy the alky kit from as in the site? Buschurs? I'm checking online a bit but not sure if what I'm finding is right.
Well, I didn't get it from a site or buy it. Dynoflash gave it to me as a sponsor item, but both he and Buschur sell SMC alky kits. Don't worry about finding it on a webpage, just ask for it when you call to make your order. Buschur may not have any in stock, but I believe Dynoflash has 3-4 currently.
The knock link is a good idea, but I haven't actually seen anyone using it on an Evo in person.
Before you throw a slew of money and parts at the car;
Are you looking for a specific whp?
Is this this a daily driver or track car?
How many miles are on the car?
No specific WHP #'s and It will basically be a daily driver but i got a 94 corolla to my disposal and its an 05 so mileage is good and It's a car I'm planning to take to the drag strip a few times to run with a few friends cars. But I'll still see, mite take it to some events once and awhile.

OK, so it's just for fun. I'm right with you.
My $.02 on what's not needed;
- Forge UNOS MBC (a $50 Dejon works just fine, but not as pretty)
- Forge BOV RS (your stocker is fine/05's are the metal one right?)
- Bushur Racing Air Filter Kit (but if you want to hear the whoosh like me )
- New timing belt & tensioner (stocker is fine)
- Upper and lower I/C pipe (stock stuff works, but you know it's balloning)
- Buschur Exhaust Manifold/Ported and Jet Coated (it can wait, but it's nice to have)
- Ported and Jet Coated 02 Housing (again it can wait, but it's nice to have)
- Buschur Racing Evolution Alcohol Injection Kit (if it's a daily driver just dump in 100 oct. and turn up the boost for the track)
- Blitz turbo timer (nice piece of mind)
- Weapon-R oil catch can (a breather filter works just fine for my daily driver)
- Weapon-R Ignition Equalizer Kit (never heard of it)
- Forge/Powerflex/Buschur front motor mount (if it's just a daily driver, your choice)
- Radiator Cap (stocker's fine)
- Cusco Type MZ front and rear LSD ($4-$5 grand on a daily??? your choice)
- Exedy Twin HD clutch (don't dump the clutch and if it ain't broke...)
- Radiator shroud (Water Wetter )
- Hyper voltage system (only if you've done everything else and need 3 more whp)
- and Ralliart Thermostat (your choice)
I'll never say, "You have to have this part," and it's ultimately your decision. Mod slow, do one at a time, and see what works for you.
Larry, we were kinda past this stage of questiong from all of his earlier threads. At this point, he was ready to do the whole kit and kaboodle and make sure his list was right. I told him some of the things above were unnecessary, but he has his preferences. All in all, the mod list is great now.
- Dejon does not have a ratcheting knob
- No, 05s have the plastic BOV that leaks at 13psi
- LICP is a great upgrade, since the stocker is so restrictive; agree that stock UICP is fine
- o2/mani - can wait for what? We're attempting to make a complete list with nothing left on the table
- 100oct at the track is fine, but also requires the ability to retune. Running alky allows you to have all that power all the time, which is much more fun. My car is a daily driver, too.
- Motor mount - no reason not to get it - best $50 mod I've ever added
- Stock clutch won't hold nearly 400wtq for very long. Exedy Twin is a great investment
- The Hyper Voltage system is not the grounding system; it's the ignition amplifier like the HKS DLI-2. I need one myself, because making this much power with this much boost daily gives the stock ignition problems. My stock ignition breaks up a little on the top end.
It depends on the boost you run. I run 26psi, which I consider moderate boost for alky, because I am not interested in running the turbo at its max. You can run 28-30psi daily on alky if you want, but I wanted a nice middle ground that was reliable enough to road race on and so that the turbo won't die so soon. It's uncommon for the stock turbo to just die - I have only seen a few cases, and it wasn't usually related to running high boost on alky.
