wats up people, newb here and im really considering getting an Evo IX so i joined here to get some info on them. I currently drive a cobalt LS and as you can tell it'll be a major upgrade. how reliable are evos and do they mess up easily?

If you keep up with all the basics even with mods it should last. My car is a 03 and is turning 180k today with stock block, head, diffs, and trans. I have all the basic bolt ons and have done the basics for matience. Mine is still running strong at 24psi on stock turbo! they will mess up if you just throw parts at it and expect them to work without proper tuning.

honestly i have not pushed a sti as hard as my evo, so i can't comment from personal experience.

with that said, try to find some road and track comparisons from the evo 8 and 9's against the STI. Most of them say the STI has more HP but when it comes to times the evo beats it with less power. I also dont think the STI with a 6spd has been in the 8's in a 1/4 mile yet, unlike many evos. just some things to explore and check out.

ultimatly you should drive both and compare yourself. try to drive stock ones with lower miles to get a good comparison!
