why exactly do you want a MR? either the 8 or 9 is great but as the name evoluton states the evo 9 has some newer features that make it just a bit better then the 8. on the evo 9 you get mivec, a better turbo and a little different styling. the 8 is a great car but it all depends on your budget too.

What are your goals for the car? This should determine what model you buy..... The Mr is a great car, but the 6spds are known not to hold as much power as the 5spd and no one builds the 6spd from the MR. There are only a few differences bewtten the standard GSR and the MR model....The MR adds an Aluminum roof, Vortex generator, 6spd, bbs wheels, bilstein suspension, hids, fog lights, mr badging, a couple interior bits, zero lift kit, and mitsubishi gauges.....I think thats about it. alot of this stuff you may not need or want, but some of it can just be purchased after the fact or get better parts aftermarket if your going to mod the car....So to some the extra money for a MR is not worth the price. if you dont plan on modding it over 400whp which can be done fairly simple the MR is a great car, I think what makes it worth it is the suspension and wheels, but for less money coilovers and lighter wheels then the bbs's can be had.

So what is your goal or what do you plan to do with the car?

If you just want to drag the car look for a RS.....lightweight no extra BS and the 5spd is what you want for the strip.....if you are going to daily the car get a GSR. You will want the 5spd....for power and strip.
