Question help. problem with evo

i recently bought a evo 7 and when i first ran it thru 1st and 2nd gear it was fine so i shifted to 3rd and at about 4 to 5 thousand rev it suddenly cuts like if it had reached the limiter. so i shifted to 4th and so on same problem. can any one help to diagnose this problem.. my evo 7 is almost stock except for the piping, radiator, i think a 3 in. exhaust and apexi turbo timer.

Is it an Evo 7 or Evo 8? Because your profile says you drive a 2003 Evo, which would be an 8. Anyways, when you hit this limiter, does it feel like your power is hitting a brick wall? It could be you hitting boost cut. Was your car tuned before you bought it? The person tuning it may have forgot to raise your boost limits.

reflash may help but i would change your plugs prior to. Also do a boost leak test. And please if this a true evo 7 post up some pics and trade me front ends and wheels!

Yes, you should probably change your plugs before getting a retune. But since he went back to the stock ECU, im willing to bet that they didnt raise your boost limits back up.
