Idler Pulley

my belt area of the engine has been making weird loose metal noise for good 3000 -5000 miles now, and i think i finally pinpoint the problem, it's most likely idler pulley that is making the noise, will it hurt the engine if i keep running it like that. or should i get it fixed ASAP ?

the bearing could lock up and throw the belt off.

I know this might sound a little odd, Did you put an exhaust on or take yours off. If so try tightening the downpipe a little more at the o2 housing. If its leaks it actualy makes a metalic sound.

I hate to pull this thread from the dead, but my IX does the same thing. Anyone figure it out yet?

Yeah. Sometimes its bad, and sometimes its not there. It disappeared after an 800 mile drive, but came back the next day. I'll fix it when it breaks. That's the Mitsu way.
