just Bought 1st Evo, Have Basic Questions - Mitsubishi Evolution Forums: Mitsubishi Lancer Forum

So i just bought my first Evo about 5 days ago and i have some questions about what i have and if its worth building. Its a 2005 with 37k on it and i got a great deal so i could pass it up even tho i know nothing about Evo's.

1. Here are the mods i know it has, HKS BOV, HKS Air Intake, 3" exhaust to the back, then into a 4" outlet. I CANT tell if it has after market headers or if those are just stock, and it obviously sits lower so maybe they cut the springs or maybe its just been lowered all together but the front sits lower then back. It looks to have 2 intercoolers, one is right in front of the fans and is silver (stock) the 2nd one is right behind the bumber (behind the license plate) it says EVO in red, and i thought was just for show but it has to pipes going to each side so it must do something....

2. I bought it from an older guy, it was his sons car and he just left it there, it has no idle issues and no engine light, runs good, turbo kicks in around 3400rpms. What is the stock boost set at and what are some good upgrades, im lookin for a summer only driver (cause i live in AK) and i want a low 12s to high 11 car. Any suggestions?

you only have one intercooler that is the one that says evo on it, the silver thing is your radiator. it looks like the car has a lot of mods, so make sure the car is runnning properly and everything is tuned and in working order. Good luck with the car! Also on another note, turbo cars do not have headers, they have exhaist manifolds and yours is a aftermarket tubalar manifold.

So we have this shop here in town that does alot of the tunings here, what do i tell him i want tuned?

what shop is that and are they familar with evos? do they have a AWD dyno?

Its called underground performance here in anchorage and I don't know if he's familiar with evos but they always have sti out front. I want to shave a second off it in a quarter. I just want an 11sec car.

well before any tuning you need a boost gauge and then someone to check out your tune. just because they have a sti there doesnt mean they know how to tune a evo. But if they are the only game in town then you could give them a shot.
