Push Clutch all the way in. rev up the engine. and around 5500rpms you will hit the 2-step. hold for a few seconds. and then launch!

You floor it to use it, but it will activate at 5k rpm no matter how much throttle you use as long as:
- Clutch is depressed
- Gear selector in 1st
- Must be stationary
- Rev to 5k
- Has to be an 05 or later. If it's an 03 or 04, then it has to be changed in the ECU before it will work

He thinks?

Yeah get it tuned but someone local. or someone who will do a e-flash. but you will need a tatrix cable and the software to flash it.

Either you're not doing it right, or someone changed it in the ECU. I said all this above. All you need is someone who knows Evos to look at it - takes 2 minutes max with a Tactrix cable and EcuFlash.

I would say best bet would be to pay the $35 and run the VIN through Carfax? That will tell you what year it is, definitely.

its simple, if its a 05 it will have Active center differential. does it say tarmac gravel or snow on the tach? put it in nuetral and floor it, it should hang at 5k. if it was changed a lot people run theres at 6k. Did he buy the car new? Take a pic of the gauge cluster and post that should help or even under the hood where the ACD resviour is. If it has ACD it s a 05. I would never buy a car i wasn't sure the year and model of but hey i guess thats just me....
