launching without toasting the stock clutch?

Everybody says the best way to launch an evo is slip the clutch around 4.5k but that will toast your stock clutch very quickly. Is there another way to launch and get decent to good starts without toasting the stock clutch?

4.5k is way way too low. Who is this "everybody" who says to do that? Even 5k is too low, but if you don't want to slip the clutch, then you have to dump, and that risks damage to the t-case. It's better to burn up the clutch than damage the drivetrain.

im with warrtalon on this one, 45 is way to low youll just burn it up or bog like crazy with that. I do a 55 to 6k slip and get some good numbers. theres no way around f'in your clutch though if your launchin the car. Its AWD, its something you have to deal with. I currently know better than anyone on f'd clutches because i cant built boost without it slippin and its not resurfacin it self anymore so i need a new one. Hey, when somethin breaks, make it better right?

A slight slip shouldn't hurt that much man. Like everyone else said i would bring the rpm's up a bit.
