Making the swith from 'H' to an evo...have questions

all right..i have a 2000 honda civic right now and when i get outta tech school, im gunna sell the civic and get an evo...im not a huge fan of the 10 and i dont know a whole lot about the 03-06's.....thats kinda the year range im lookin to stay in....so i was wondering what the differences between the 03/04 were to the 05+....like interior, exterior, performance, drivetrain, suspension......i mean like down to the detail if you could....im not lookin to turn this into an all out race car or even really heavilly modify it for that matter.... im just gunna put a exhaust(mainly cause i love the way evos sound), a BOV, HID's(unless they come with them), some wheels, tinted windows, and probably lower it a little bit....if you could gimme some information on those things too i would appreciate it...thanx..

there are black evos with sunroof, hids and leather.....the wing will probably need to come off unless the previous owner already went wingless.

the RS came out in 04. it has no PW or PL's. Also no radio and some of them did not come with AC. they do not have ABS either. Its the same car but it has lighter weight then the GSR or MR versions. Same motor and same drivetrain but it doesn't have the wing or creature comforts......All great cars but it depends on what you are looking for exactly.

cool cool...if you wouldnt mind talking to me about 2-steps now...ive seen them in a few videos and all it really seems like is a rev limiter for your launching im assuming...but yea...and did those come factory or is that something aftermarket??

they came on the 05 and ups set at 5000 rpms...under the factory settings it does not build boost. you can set it in the ecu to whatever you want. Mine is at 6000rpms. I build 13 psi at the line. the way it works is when there is no speed registering in the ecu, it will hold that rpm once the car starts to move in motion it will go to normal redline.

So is that something that is adjustable when i first get the car or would i have to take it to a shop to have that done? And is using the two step bad for the car cause it sounds like a fuel cutout and is the evo a good daily driver? And between the evo 8 and the evo 9, which is an all around better car?

this all depends on your budget. both are great. i have a 03 evo 8 with over 150k on it...never had any majore problems at all. the 2 step is fine for the car, but you dont need to do it everywhere you go....it should only be used for launching....also if you have ecuflash and know how to use it, it takes only a few minutes to change it. i would set it at 6000rpms and be done with it. you should never have o adjust it again. any good tuner can do this when you get your car tuned.

the evo X is a different class of car, more high end in fit and finish. both cars are great drive them both and decide what you want. all of them have different trim levels and packages and all the evos have a major aftermartket following.

i think im probably gunna go with the X just because of the mild plans i had planned for the 9, its just gunna end up being that much more of a car. but i hear they have a completely different motor in em...and do you know of anywhere i can get some good specs on it like power ratings and maybe even the factory options...and what are some of the major differences between the GSR and the MR??

buy a GSR unless you want the SST tranny which will limit your power. with basic bolt ons the evo X's new motor will gain around 115whp without a tune and with a tune another 40whp. so Stock is arouund 240whp+ mods 115whp+ good tune 40whp= 395whp ish...... with a MR that is close to pushing the limits of the tranny... By mods I mean Full exhaust, Intake, IC piping, intercooler, maybe a boost pill or just controlling boost thru the ecu. Check out cbrdspeedfactory for details and also extremeturbosystems.com . Both places have made awesome power with minimal mods and there special touches. When i get my X it will be badass....and the 8 will be a stricly stock class time attack car.
