New Evo owner with a problem already! HELP!!

Ok so I recently purchased an 05 Evo and the center differential already went out on me. I don't have any kind of warranty on it so i have to fix it out of my own pocket. The dealership wants $4,300 for parts and labor!. I looked and looked then looked some more and failed to find any kind of center differential online. So if anyone knows where i can find one for somewhat cheap please let me know. Another question does anybody know if this is a common problem with the 05 Evo's or if it's just my car. Any advice will help. Thanx!

Are you talking about the ACD? Cause the only other differential I know of on the Evo is the Rear Differential.

$4300 sounds about right. Good luck. Do you dump your clutch alot....or launch without slipping it? they can break if your not sure how to launch with AWD. Better to burn up a clutch instead of blow a diff.

I'm actually looking to get an 05 Evo MR tomorrow, assuming everything checks out mechanically. What is the best way to test if the ACD is bad or going bad?

^^Take it to a mechanic and have them look over the car. Also you wont know its done until it doesn't work. you may hear transfercase whine which could be a indicator of a TC or diff going bad
