i didnt find a introduction section so i posted here. well im in the market for a new car and i came across the 2010 lancer sportback. i just recently got a new job that will require me to travel a lot and my current ride a 2002 nissan xterra just dosnt stack up to cars when it comes to gas mileage. i started researching cars in its class and some smaller hatch backs like the Subaru impreza hatch a scion xb and a kia soul and the dont have half the cargo space the lancer has.
now on to some questions. how many people on the forum has this car? i know its a new release but has there been any issues with the car so far?
I wish they offered the sportback in Evo X trim then i would be all over it, for now we only get base trim and ralliart. are you looking at the regular lancer sportback or a ralliart model?
LOL turbo is the only way to go with AWD! they are great cars IMO. Go drive the cars you are considering and then also do your reasearch on warranties and cost to own.
the turbo awd isnt practical i wouldnt mind awd as im use to have 4wd in with but i cant have the turbo. the reason i dont want the turbo is this is going to be a family car. and also im sure the fiance wouldnt be too thrilled if i came home with a turbo sports car.
its your car but i like to be able to drive it. Turbo is practical in my eyes, My evo is a family car with 400whp and my evo X will be at least 500whp and holding the full family. Turbo can use more gas if you keep your foot into it, if you drive civil you will have good gas mileage and an extra power bump when you need it. Like I said its your budget and your car, but for me If i'm spending a lot of money on a new car i want to enjoy driving it with and without the family. If your looking for a family mitsu check out the Outlander, We also own one and it fits my family and our dog. It also has every option I could want in a family car. Good luck with your purchase, like I said you need to drive all your options before you decide. Drive the GTS and the ralliart sportback and feel the difference before counting it out.
On a side note:
My evo has 167k on it AWD turbo with all basic boltons and gets 27mpg when i'm not pushing it to the floor all the time.
I also get 27mpg and mine will also be utilized as a family car (whenever we decide to not use the car my wife drives). The car can be practical if you can keep your foot off the gas and going into boost all the time as SicLanEvo has said already. But, FYI and dont take this the wrong way because im not trying to be rude whatsoever, but you posted this question about non-turbo non-Evo vehicles in an EVO FORUM. So 98% of our suggestions are going to go towards the Evo or the Ralliart lol.
BUT, if I ABSOLUTELY had to pick from the cars you listed above...then I would go with the Subaru. AWD FTW.
i tried finding a strait lancer forum but all are about the evos i wouldnt mind it. its just any forced induction is kinda loud. and i did like how the subaru drove but im waiting to drive the lancer. how much different is an evo vs base model? besides all wheel drive and turbo. i like going on forums to help with car problems like if i had trouble changing spark plugs or any other mechanical issues that i may come across.
No worries. You are more than welcome here. I just figured I would let you know that most everyone is going to say "Evo, Evo, Evo!" I honestly couldnt give you a comparison of an Evo to the base model Lancer (because ive never been in one) aside from it having better suspension as well. I do know that the Evo X's are more comfortable and SAFER than the Evo VIII and IX's by a lot. Now to the forced induction, unless you upgrade your intake, it will be pretty quiet and youll hardly notice it. When mine was stock it was hard to hear my turbo spooling when I was driving hard but when I installed my aftermarket intake it got pretty loud. Im not going to try to sell you on the Evo but I, like yourself, enjoy getting on the forums to help people out. Since you havent taken the Lancer on a test drive yet, do that. And maybe try to take the Evo for a ride as well. But choose what best suits you and makes you happy, and let us know your decision.
when i do go to test drive one ill probably go to a different dealership because for being a 20year old they are not taking me seriously. and thanks for all the input guys
there are evos there i never asked to get behind the wheel of one. if i got one it would be an older one. but the sport back is in the show room my gues is they dont want to tale it out but they arnt treating me as a customer... so that my only concern about it is the customer service im going to get after i do get the car.
only buy from a dealer that treats you well. If they are not going to let you drive the car do not buy from them. Not just your buying experience should be positive but the overall dealership itself including service and parts. If these places dont treat you right, then dont buy from them at all. I sold cars and work in service and parts for a dealer, I know what its like and how you should be treated.
1) Where can i buy front wheel bearing? i read all the threads in the forums and barely can i find any direct recommendations....
2) everytime i turn left theres a tapping noise comin from the left suspension area (sounds like rubber hammer tapping the inside wheel well), so i went ahead and changed both front strut mounts and tie rods.....the tapping continues!!!!
PLEASE HELP!!! i just bought a Evo8 couple of months ago, am truly excited about it except for this two things
