OMG Another Newbie

Greetings from Iraq my fellow evo friends..

Well I'm a newbie to this site..googled evolution forums and found you guys.

Im also a member on evom, but i lurk and dont post much.

I drive an 06 EB IX GSR SSL. its pretty much stock except for a HKS Intake, HKS Carbon Ti-C Exhaust and a turbo timer..

I'm considering selling it when I get back from Iraq in April for an IX MR SE if I can find one. I'm resisting the mod bug as I'm still making payments..I make decent money but I'm not too keen to the idea of spending all my money on mods. I love the car, really really horrible gas mileage but I love her to death.

Ill try to find a pic or two I have and post em if I find em..

Hope to gain a thing or two from this site...cheers.

You should stick with the 5 speed. They arent that much different especially if you are planning on upgrading stuff later

i dont mean to sound stupid so correct me if i am, but cant you just put the 6 speed on the car with a 5 speed? but arent 6 speed slower since the gears are shorter?

The 6 spd will hold up once you get around the 400whp mark. if you plan on going bigger then its just a waste. The 6 spd is good for a lightly modded car that doesn't drag alot but autocrosses. The gears are short and quick so it makes for a very effective car in a small course.

No you cannot just swap a 6spd over to the 5spd. My buddy has done it and then went back to the 5spd. He went back because he is making way too much power for the 6 spd to hold. Also you need the 6spd ecu and it just doesn't swap in without complications so he ended up going with a AEM stand alone. His car was the first Evo 9 GSR with a full MR swap done by AMS in gaithersburg MD. Its on amstuning.com . I sold him both those evos the first MR and the 2nd GSR and he is a great friend.
