Ported Stock Turbo Manifold

Ok so hopefully by the end of next month I'll be putting an 9 turbo on my 05 Evo 8. I've been looking at the turbo maniflod porting and coating that buschr offers. I'm wondering if anyone else has done this and is it worth the money / downtime it will take to do it? What kind of power increases could be expected from this ?

It is nice for a stock turbo for sure. I am saving my money for a new turbo with a header.

There is no reason to get an AMS manifold for a stock turbo.

Silver05MR, I have had a Buschur ported/coated stock manifold on my car for 2 years now - both on my stock 05 turbo and now on my stock IX turbo. I also have the turbine housing (10.5 hotside) ported/coated and mated to an SS O2 housing.

You can avoid downtime by just purchasing a used, stock exhaust manifold, send it to Buschur, wait for it to return, then install it. That's how I did it with all my pieces - no reason to have the car down for weeks.

Would the benefits be the same between the two different companys ? I see that the paradigm is quite a bit cheaper than the buschur part. I also know that cheaper is not always better, and I can definitely justify spending a little more on quality parts.

Warr - What kind of power increases did you ntoice when you went with the ported mani and IX turbo ? I have heard as little as 10 whp and as much as 25 on just the turbo alone. Im just curious I know the IX turbo is better but just would like to know what to expect. thanks.

Not trying to steal your post but....

Warrtalon: What cams are you using? I saw a thread on evom and you were saying you picked up nothing by installing cams. I tried to find out more info but you have over 10,000 posts and i couldn't find anything.

1) I did the manifold and turbo 2 years apart, so the gains are separate. I did 4 parts at once when I did the manifold, so I can't give an exact number there. For the turbo, I posted those results in detail.

2) I got nothing with cams, and we don't know why. Either I was already maxing out what the stock turbo could do at this altitude and max boost, or I have a damaged head keeping me from gaining power from cams. We found oddities in the head during the cam install that would indicate damage and potential power loss, but that's just speculation.

Warrtalon:

Did you do the cam install before the ix turbo? I think so, but not sure.

what mods did you have as of the 341/361 dyno? is that on pump, meth, ix turbo?

1) Over a year before the IX turbo

2) The 341/361 was at sea level before I moved up here almost 2 years ago:
- Dynojet, uncorrected
- 93oct + alky @ 26psi
- Stg1 bolt-ons
- Ported/coated stock manifold and 10.5 hotside + SS O2 + Forge WGA
- Stock cams, stock fmic, stock ic piping, stock injectors

the Buschur jet coated mani is cheaper than the PPI/Swaintech coated mani. but the Swaintech mani keeps temps lower. plus i like it cause its not so "bling".
