And frankly they're full of isht. The spoiler adds something like 100lbs of downforce over 100mph. Not significant or "considerable" enough to cause instability. Yes it's functional, but not functional enough to cause a loose or unstable rear end. Track days are no worry. You can tune the suspension (which Mitsu has already done form the factory) for understeer. If the suspension is "preprogrammed" for understeer, the spoiler doesn't help much to aid in keeping the rear end stuck. At one of our local tracks I hit speeds around 125mph and going into the first sweeper turn at the end of the straight, there's no hint of instability.
I'm wingless and love it. I especially like the reduced attention I get, and I've been pulled over TWICE in the last 2 months for 20 over and managed to talk my way out of both of them. I bet losing the wing helped. For daily driving (style and looks aside) you're better off without it.
I just hit 24mpg. I got about 330 miles out of the tank, and it cost me 13.7 gallons to fill it up. I was averaging 2mpg lower WITH the spoiler. No spoiler, less drag.
