Turbo Timer?

Alright, I have a Greddy Full-Auto Timer on my car. I have read that the turbo in an Evo is water and oil cooled. If this is so, do I need to continue using my timer? Also how important is it, I mean if i stop to get gas must I let it run for however long just to turn it off for 2 minutes?

2 minutes is too long to begin with unless you've been running really hard for sustained amounts of time. You don't need a turbo timer - all you need is some common sense. Don't boost right into your parking spot like Jackie Chan, and if you've been racing it, cool down by driving at low speeds/low rpm for a while until things cool off. Cooling down at idle is not that great, because the oil temps can actually go up due to no air flow.

Well, no reason to not utilize it if you have it already installed, but if you want to remove and sell it, then that would be fine, too. If you do continue to use it, set it only to idle for 30s for normal driving, and if you do any racing, maybe set it a little longer, but I still suggest driving around out of boost at low rpm for a few minutes before parking/stopping. That will cool everything down nicely - better than idling stationary.

30s? Thats a lot better than what that thing normally sets itself to. I drive around for 15 minutes and it wants to run for like 3 minutes. But thanks for the advice. I'll probably keep it in there since I wouldn't make much $$ and I don't feel like messing with all the wiring. Thanks again.

Yeah, 3 mins is ridiculous. If you haven't boosted at all, you don't have to wait at all. If you've boosted some, then just let it cool down before you park, then wait 15s or so after parking.

I think the oil companies manufactur turbo timers. Biggest waste of time and money on the planet, as well as destroying your fuel economy. Any time the car is sitting idleing you are getting zero MPG.... burning up gasoline for nothing.
