Hey guys. So within the next month or so i should get getting my per diem for being in iraq. Will probably be about a grand, and im looking at putting most of it into performance upgrades for my 06 Evo IX SE. These are the parts im thinking of, let me know what you think or if you think my money would be better spent elsewhere.
272/272 Cams (not sure of brand yet. Either Brian Crower, or GSC?)
MBC
Intake
Tectrix Tuning Cable
Water/Meth Inj.
Tune
===
My current mods are
HKS SSQV
DC 3" Downpipe w/ cat delete
Custom 3" turboback
Tune and a Boost controler are big ones.
Intake is a good thing too. Which one?
Cams are really going to liven up your car
If you want the Alky kit you need to do the head studs while they are doing the cams becasue to really get the use out of the alky kit you need those to relly tune up the boost.
Just my 2 cents

272/272 Cams (not sure of brand yet. Either Brian Crower, or GSC?) - Good idea. Do Cossie or GSC S1
MBC - Forge Unos #1 or Hallman #2
Intake - Any plain cone filter is fine (Buschur, AMS, etc)
Tactrix Tuning Cable - Great, but be sure you also have a laptop to use with it that has EcuFlash downloaded and installed
Water/Meth Inj. - I would recommend not doing this right away. Do all the regular bolt-ons and get tuned for 91oct. That will be WAYYYY faster than stock, and you'll need to get used to it. Then, decide if you want to do alky or maybe go with the better alternative: E-85.
Tune - Most important mod of all

My current mods are
HKS SSQV - Sell it and re-install your stock aluminum DV. It is one of the best you can possibly use - far better than the SSQV and it costs nothing.
DC 3" Downpipe w/ cat delete
Custom 3" turboback - do you mean custom 3" cat-back? The downpipe and cat-delete are part of the turboback.
Additional suggestions:
- Walbro 255lph fuel pump
- Boost gauge (should be mod #1 unless you just didn't list it)
- Lower intercooler pipe
- If you go ahead with the alky, then you'll want to think about an FMIC and UICP
- You do NOT need to do head studs to run alky or high boost. I still am on stock head bolts after 3.5 years, more than 2 of which were ony alky and 26+psi 24/7. It's actually more risky to install head studs with the 1-by-1 method than it is to not change them at all. Head bolts failures are extremely rare.

My bad on the typo yes i meant Custom 3" catback
Also, ive heard alot about taking the SSQV off...Maybe i'll take the advice.
I have a Greddy Boost 2 Bar Boost Gauge. Dont know why i didnt list it.
I'll look into those other parts with what money i have left over. Thanks for your imput
What besides the obvious, is the difference between alky and e-85...as far as power and engine safety goes? i dont want to end up with a blown motor if i could have prevented it.
E-85 Pros vs Alky:
- Makes more power
- Cheaper
- Less risky
Cons:
- Requires much more fuel (30% more than gas and even more than that compared to alky), which means you'll need to upgrade injectors, and your gas mileage will suffer. However, the gas mileage is more than offset by how cheap E-85 is compared to 91oct and the fact that you don't have to purchase both 91oct and alky/meth (at different places at different times)
- Not available everywhere, but it's not a problem for us in this area
The ported/coated manifold and SS O2 are great ideas, too.
I have the AEM alky kit I love it. Plus I am going to E-85 this year. Here is the plus to for both great power and running high boost. the down side is e-85 is not every where neither is Alky. But you can stop at any lowes and Home Depot and get alky. So I am doing two maps one on alky and 91 and the other is going to be e-85. that way I can keep the same boost no matter what fuel I am running.

awesome. im still leaning more towards alky, but im keeping my mind open to e-85 aswell. guess i'll start researching the price differences in what it would cost each of them.
I can't imagine keeping the alky system in the car along with an E-85 tune on huge injectors. Alky reduces IDC and E-85 increases it dramatically. That will mean you'll have a HUGE discrepancy in the tunes and how much injector is being used, and you'll still have the weight and risk of the alky kit. I guess I'm just content with having a 91oct tune for backup when I can't get E-85, but man...I can't imagine trying to keep both of those systems at once, and I would not recommend it to anyone else.

Don't forget the huge difference in risk factor and the fact E-85 makes more power. There's really no reason for you to do alky whatsoever, imo.
