URGENT:Need help with evo 8 for inspection and emission in pa

I just purchased an 03 Evo. Got it very cheap I knew I needed to put work into it. So here are all the problems I need to fix before I get the car inspected and tested for emission. Well I need to buy a impact bar for the front. I am new to this all but I thought I could buy one for the junk yard but no one has any parts so I might have to go to mitsubishi dealer in doylestown pa where I live to purchase one. But maybe there is a after market bar or maybe one of you guys in the forums has one or info. Next I need both front wheel wells or splash gaurds but again maybe one of you guys have info about a parts car. Next problem is I have a three inch straight exhaust. It has a o2 for front close to turbo manifold but the o2 behind where the cat would go is just cut and hanging there. I need some ideas for emissions it shot out 5 codes in emissions. They were po171,po138,po141,po234,po243. I know I could find some one to put tag on the cars but want to somewhat legal. It always an option though I guess.next engine light was disabled so do t know how to fix that but need it on. Also I need brake rotors and pads all around maybe you can help me find a good pair brakes. The guy has alot of wires near the fuse box hanging. I can take pics of everything that need to be done to show but for right that exhaust is really awesome but pissing me off because I can't get it to for emissions. I need alot of help and am willing to do all this to get this thing back on the road.maybe all you experienced evo people can help.If any one lives in bucks county pa contact me because I would really appreciate help from an evo pro I am just coming from owning a bmw e30 so yeah thank you.

Codes are as follows:
P0138- Rear O2 Sensor Voltage High
P0141- Rear O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfuntion
P0171- Fuel System Lean
P0234- Engine Overboost Condition
P0243- Turbo Wastegate Solenoid Malfuntion

It sounds like you got a hand full. Most of those codes will be fixed when you replace the rear o2 sensor. The best way to pass emissions is with the stock cat so try to find someone that has a test pipe and will let you borrow theres for the test. For the overboost and wastegate codes if there is a boost controller that would be the cause and what has happened is the tuner, if there was one, didn't "erase" those codes in the tune. As for brakes just shop around online and you should find a good set at a good price. For the crash beam and wheel wells your most likely going to have to go to the dealership unfortunately. Your best friend is the service manual. You can find them online or you can buy one in cd form. Good luck....your going to need it.

Thanks but how would a stock cat fit on a 3 inch exhaust or you just saying borrow some ones full exhaust. I also was curious about the boost contrler if that has the piping and I just want stock boost just take controler off and run new line with out controler. How about clearing codes. I was looking into rev for the iPhone apparently you can clear codes with it but I am trying to see if there is a cheaper wifi interface for program

Unless the exhaust system is custom or an ams or something then most downpipes and cat-back exhausts will bolt up to the stock cat to remain legal. Should is the main word, if not then yes you wll have to find someone to borrow one from. When you get a modified car you really want to bring it back to stock just to look over things so if there really is a boost controller, which I think there is one, take it off and don't worry about it until the car is legal.

The codes to erase them after you fix one just disconnect the negative battery terminal for 5-10 minutes and that will erase the codes or you can get advance or autozone to erase them.

I have no idea about that iphone program, look into it but you can get evoscan for cheap and your going to have to buy a cable for your iphone to hook up to the car anyways so if your going to spend the money just get evoscan and then you also have a datalogger as well instead of something to just read and erase codes. Good luck, hope this helps.

For the exhaust I went with the spark plug nonfouler approach. This will pull my rear O2 out of the exhaust stream. I fixed the rear o2 with Bosch 15733 this is supposely only for a lancer base and it's universal for the downstream but I am gong to try it. The dude had a resistor or some ghetto set up the coloring on the resistor was not 10000 ohms so I don't think the dude knew what he was doing. I purchased a ultimate racing high flow ceramic cat for evo 8 hopefully this will all cut down on emissions I will let you all know maybe I will post some pics up for the anti fouler proceedure. Thank you man oh yeah and it does have a manual boost controler but it's one of those home depot set ups. It's sounds like it leaks so true boost is out the window. Are there any cheaper digital boost controlers or mbc out there.

For ease and convenience check out hallman manual boost controllers cause you can buy them with a cable to attach inside your car so you don't have to keep popin the hood every time you want to change your boost settings.

no matter if your running stock or not there is some sort of controller in the car. make sure you get a proper diagram for the hoses of the OEM boost solenoid. It sounds like your car has some major issues and was hacked up a bit. If you need a o2 extension gruppe-s.com has them under the exhaust section for the evo its like $15 shipped and it screws right in......no need to buy more then one and drill holes just install and go.
