The use of the rear Difuser

Has anyone got statistics on the difuser, which looks like fins on the lower part of the rear bumper for the evo?

-Is it Purely cosmetic or does it serve a specific purpose.
I have been searching on some sites and i havent gotten anything specific except that it only comes in evo's sold in the middle east and in europe.

that is just the JDM bumper and I think everyone who owns a evo or close to it knows about it. I'm not sure if it is actually functional though, i have never seen specs on it. The bumper is shorter than the USDM bumper and your exhaust tip will stick out unless it's custom or made for a JDM car. www.gruppe-s.com sells them along with a bunch of other sites that carry them. If anyone has the specs and if it's functional please let me know.

and it shoudnt be called a rear diffuser, technically speaking.

ive got a rear diffuser thread here in general, maybe look over that. thats a real rear diffuser, and does make a numerical difference while driving
