Why should I buy an EVO over an STI?

Hi,

I'm pretty new to Evos and haven't really done a lot of technical research on them. And right now I'm looking to replace my old Subaru WRX, due to some complications, I'm going to get rid of it and instead upgrade to either an Evo or a STi. Right now, I'm looking at an 05 Evo VIII and a 07 STi. I'm pretty familiar with Subarus in general (having been on the forums for quite some time) and I would prefer if people would give unbiased pros and cons between the two and as far as I've analyzed looking at numbers and having test driven an Evo today, it's pretty much a coin toss. But it would also be great if people can give their feedback on the 05 Evo, and if there's any hidden mechanical issues with the evo. Thanks!

Well i am biased because everyone i know that has a suburau has had major issues. I have had my evo for 3 years and it has 130k on it and i have never had any major issues with it at all. I'm not highly modded but i am putting down a good amount of power for a stock turbo. The 05 is a good year because it has lsd in the front, ACD, and a bigger hotside on the turbo. As for subarus I have driven them and It's just not for me, the Sti in stock form has lag issues compared to a stock evo. Good luck on your new car whatever it is just do your research, i would try to find a 06 evo 9 that would be the best if its in your budget.
