I’m looking to buy an Evo 8. Found one I’m very interested in. I’m planning on going to see it sometime this week.
2005 Evo 8 27,000miles
This obviously will be a big purchase for me. I currently own a Nissan SE-R Spec-V and don’t know much of anything about the Evos. The person claims for the car to be bone stock never moded. I will investigate thoroughly when I test drive the car to make sure of this! My questions are
1.What should I reasonably expect to pay he is asking "Firm $20k" any bargaining tips to talk him down?
2.Any major reported problems with the evos I should beware of…I have access to AllData and plan to look it up but it’s always good to hear from people who own and drive them everyday
3.I would like an IV but I'm not sure if I will be able to find a decent used one. Should I take the opportunity of this 8? It’s very clean looking I have hopes that it wasn’t beat to badly…
Any suggestions and advice is much appreciated…
If I make the sale looking forward to doing some good reading and learning more about these cars, getting my hands dirty and making my first mods!

where are you located at that you can get a evo IV? If its bone stock that doesnt sound bad. Depedning on what you plan for the car will depend on what issues you should watch for, but this is with anycar. As long as the car is maintained well you shouldnt have any major issues. I run my 2003 evo 8 hard and it has 173k on it. original motor, trans and diffs. My car is modded with almost all basic bolt ons, cams, and alky injection running 25psi.

I live in Florida...Can you not get the IV in us? lol Ive never ever looked into these cars! But looking at the picture it seems the plastic bolts for the stock airbox are missing strike one if he is claiming he never did mods....

^^ which plastic clips, they do come off sometimes. you cannot get anything under a evo 8 here in the states legally or without going thru some major paperwork. The evo wasnt brought to the us market until the 2003 evo 8 model.

oh well if I was gonna do paperwork and try to legilize an import id go with my R34 ive wanted since i can even remember!!

it looks like its stock. the clips can break or they could have been lost when the and if the filter was ever replaced. It also doesnt have a stock battery.

R34 is a awesome car but costs a ton to get legalized here. i know plenty of people with r32's and r33's awesome cars. i was debating on getting one soon.

Ok so the Spec V is up for sale lets see if im able to sell it...if so hopefully its evo here I come....maybe...lol the guy who had it posted hasnt even contacted me yet. I emailed him asking if I can see it tomorrow...

yeah i know what you mean they are push in style fasteners. if you get the car and want to keep the stock intake get those fasteners, some people had issues with that piece getting stuck to the hood and not allowing air to enter the motor under boost.
