There's nothing wrong with wanting more power. But if this race is something you are serious about then you need to work within your budget and mod what will give you the greatest benifit. If it's just a screw-off race for you to have fun and see what happens then mod to your hearts delight with what ya want.

Evolvd -
The thread started on just some things I could do right now with my budget. As the year goes on, the budget grows. I just pulled out of a major 6 month slump, and have just climbed back on top. So possibly starting next month, my budget grows enough to start getting something larger each month. When I get my next promotion and raise, thats when I can REALLY start picking up some of the higher dollar stuff people have suggested. I'm serious about this race, but like i said the thread originally started as something I could do for under 250$ just cause I need a mod fix lol. Its got a mind of its own now.....

Troy - yes, the Silver State Classic GOod times in the desert, just no ether (did you see those bats?!?!) LOL
There are also a few others, one in Nova Scotia and in Texas, and I'm sure there are other smaller events that are similar. I'd like to compete in more then just the SSC, its just my starting point

you dont have LICP on your list. I would say go there next while you are thinking about your decision to go bigger with turbo etc... It is def. good for a few extra ponies from what i have heard.

spool-up won't really be an issue when you consider the speeds for the event he will be running in, there's a few other mods that will be more worth while.

I would think any parts that will increase the "sustained durability" of the car would be the most important first off.

I would never say that more power would be a bad idea....ever.

GG - 3rd paragraph, line 3

I did some searching around on the "other" sites used section, just waiting to hear back from a few people on shipping price. Found a Koyo for 250$ + s/h, an Injen lower and upper IC pipe for 200$, both from the same car. I was trying to avoid going over budget...but hey, deals a deal!

I will find out on tuesday what kind of budet i REALLY have to work with, so the next part will hopefully come soon. It would really be great to at least pick up the radiator next week. Getting both...if its feasible, I will.

After that, most likely cams or a BOV/DV will be next. SO, suggestions in this area?? APS or Forge maybe? I've been reading a LOT on the whole cams debate, at least as far as brand x vs. brand y....mind boggling.

For a bov stick with your ix bov or a forge rs if you really feel you need a new one. I would really stick to recirculated and not vta if I were you, I have had the aps dual vent and it was "ok" but it did bog my car pretty bad between shifts so I got the forge rs which you can adjust the spring tension with the turn of a knob.

is the IX and JDM MR one and the same? I have the JDM MR. a few posts up me and warr were talking about my problem with losing pressure, so I perceive, and so did Al. I had an APS, but I never put it on and sold it because at the time, it would have moved me out of my desired autoX class.

Also....just read something Clayton wrote on another post about the Injen...nix this off the list. I have the mini battery, it would be useless to get a stock-like UICP. I'll get the BR.

Yes sorry I did meant to put jdm mr.... a bov moves you out of class???? That sucks, why?

When it comes to the uicp don't even waste your time with injen IMO.... For uicp I would go with buschur, ams, or nisei. Since you already have the mini bat kit you can run any of those.

Here is my nisei uicp, same as Justins (justdsm).

Yes, the JDM MR DV = IX DV, but your problem is anomalous. I have not seen that same problem happen elsewhere. Occasionally, people have isolated incidents with their JDM MR DVs, but that's bound to happen considering the sheer # of them out there.

I agree on choosing between BR, AMS, and Nisei for FMIC and IC pipes...
