Glad you had a good time. I told you it's addicting. Did you feel any red mist coming on?
You know, thanks for diagnosing my tranny problem. I started having 4th grinds and sometimes difficulty shifting into 5th. Glad to know its the clutch because I have an exedy twin on the shelf waiting for this clutch to die.
Great job today guys. See you all tmw!!

No red mist! Only mist was the mist coming from the clouds all day! Especially in the morning it was raining pretty hard.
Do you guys think it'd be ok to run tomorrow at Bandimere? I'm pretty sure it's my clutch because when I took a look at it when the tranny was out it was getting ready to go. I just don't want to ruin more things running tomorrow if all I need right now is a clutch. I have the same symptoms you were talking about Warr with your clutch and 4th gear. Exact same! You felt it today when we were on the track.
Josh, any car could run at CSP, but for tomorrow there are 3 classes with Mitsu vs Subie only being one of them. There will be plenty of domestics and non-Subie/Mitsu imports, too.
JT, I don't think it will do much good to drag if you can't bang the gears, but it's up to you. Just being there should be a lot of fun, and you're already paid, right?
Well I'll see you up there. I'm still debating whether or not to run, but I'm leaning more towards on doing so. Just have to be easy on 4th but the rest are fine. If the clutch starts to slip whatsoever I'll stop. See everyone tomorrow!
I took 1st in Expert (and overall) with a 1:11.7. I don't know who came in behind me in expert, because they were actually slower than the top 3 in Intermediate.
In intermediate, it was a stock C6 Z06 (wow), 35R STi (CNSTMAN but driven by Scuba Steve), then a stock turbo stage 2 STi on E85 (owned/driven by a CSP officer). They had times of 1:17.0, 1:18.7, 1:19.7, respectively.
Well as most of you heard. I blew my motor. my timing belt broke and I put a rod through the block a few seconds after that. Kinda fun...ya not really. I was doing about 100 when the thing let go. have you ever been sideways on a two drag strip at over 100. it's fun as hell, something you should all try.
ha just kidding, I was by far the worst one up there out what 5 Evo's. First run was a 14. the went 13 then went back to 14 then to 12.8 then to 14. I was having a few problems with my meth, it was making me sputter, so ya I sucked. I got about 7 runs in and then my serpentine belt broke and my day was done. 80 bucks down the tubes for 7 runs. Not too happy.
I have to get my launches down cause I think/told not to just dump it. Anways Ya I suck
Don't worry about it, Josh, because you have yet to really have some clean runs where you can actually LEARN to improve. The fact you hit a 12.8 at all with all those problems shows the car has some nuts and could rock out once you get sync'd up with the car.
I'm just glad it was an easy fix that didn't hurt the motor or trans. We'll have to go again when you're ready, and we can work on the launches. You don't want to dump but rather feather the clutch at first until the drivetrain slack lets out, then pretty much release the clutch. However, even with my power, I was ripping all 4 in 1st once the VHT wore off. I couldn't do anything better than a 1.79-1.80 (usually worse) after we wore off the sticky stuff. It sucked that they didn't lay any more of it down during the break before the competition rounds.
Overall, though, the Evos did a great job while being terribly outnumbered. Corey and I both hit our personal bests EVER on any track at any elevation. He hit an 11.93, I think, and was doing 116+ all day. I hit an 11.84 and 11.88 as my 2 best, but both were high 1.7 60s. Somehow, I was trapping 118+ all morning and was really just a sticky track away from an 11.7 or maybe even 11.6 if the stars aligned. The highest trap was 118.9, which is pretty crazy.
