I bought the Injen kit and I had no problem with fit. I also use the stock valve and run 22 psi with no problem.

And if I ever decide to go any farther I'll probably grab the AMS EMS when I add cams, gears, injectors and a new rail.

Evolvd, I'll definitely keep that in mind. Though I am in an VIII not a IX. Were they running the same valve with the differences in turbo housings? I honestly don't know. Either way, I will be adding 3-4 lbs of boost with the MBC so I'll probably just grab the Forge RS anyway. My long term plans do include farther upgrading so I'd need it then.
I am thinking about going and getting the IX bov they hold better and it just go right in. I want it to rec. so that is why I want that route.

The Forge RS valve is Recirc. By the way.

Well, I just ordered everything. I went with what I described above after much research and guidance from you guys. I heard mixed about the Injen's fits. But I like it overall so I stuck with that. Anyway, thanks for the comments guys, it helped a lot! I'll let you know how it goes!!!

I have an 8 also and purchased my 9 valve online. And if you are running 24 psi or lower the 9 valve will work just fine. I understand your desire to upgrade ahead of what you have, just keep in mind the daily drivability will be a bit rougher with the Forge RS compared to the 9 DV.

Are you saying that the 9DV doesn't hold past 24psi??

Mine holds at 25 just fine.

Evolv'd is right though the 9DV is awesome. I have it on my 8...and 9

Few things you need to ask yourself, what is your power goals and how much do you plan on spending? Most stock Evo VIII's put down roughly 230-245awhp and IX's put down a solid 250-255awhp (stock 18psi). I personally got my IX up to 305awhp @ 20psi by simply adding a Turbo XS TBE with test pipe, DC Sports stainless manifold, Fuel Rail, Injen UICP & intake, AMS LICP Turbo XS intercooler, and a killer flash by Al in Spring of 2006. Those were my power goals back then though. A lot has changed since then. Most of those parts are not on my IX today because my power goals changed or may I say I got a little carried away.

Intake wise, there is a few options like Buschur, AMS.....stay away from the K&N intake. Personaly, don't like how the Injen looks but thats up to you. I went with a small battery and had custom IC piping made to go under my intake.
There is nothing wrong with an SSQV if used properly. Some cars will require it to be recirculated and some will not. The Forge is a decent BOV, but the design of the HKS means that it will never, ever leak boost and thats the second most important functionality of a BOV/BPV.
If you choose not to use the HKS I strongly recommend using the Synapse Synchronic BOV/BPV either recirculated or with thier anti-stall kit, as it shares the same basic design as the HKS but is a little more advanced design.

I'm not saying it won't, but I wouldn't trust mine past 24. Besides, anyone running more than 24 psi (espcially on 91) better have some race gas or meth going into their cylinders.

Alot of talk about the SSQV. Just sold mine and went back to my stock one, so i'll throw in my $.02.

I thought it would be cool to have the sound of the SSQV untill i had it on my car. Its loud, and gets old after a while. Ontop of that, the driveability was horrible (in my experience) especially on the interstate. Under just the right throttle the car would choke and buck its self quite violently. So i went back to the stock BOV and it drives perfect. And fwiw the stock BOV sounds great with an aftermarket intake.

Good luck with your mods, and stay away from a new manifold unless its the full race as stated above. Ported and coated stock manifold will own.

grapejuice knows and if anyone knows me they know that I had the HKS on my first 8 and I thought it worked. After talking to people and chatting with Warrtalon I switched to the 9 DV and I love it. I agree with justin . Dont do HKS unless you do it re-circ. Trust me I have made all the wrong choices. HKS BOV with the K&N intake = slow evo

i personally had the ssq no recirc with the anti stall, my car ran just fine but the sound gets old fast... i'm now running the forged recirc and it hold my 27 lbs perfect. Also i have the injen upper and lower and my upper pipe does rub on the inside of my hood and everything lined up good it just got bent a little off, no biggie just a scuff mark.
