IPOD explosion

So my IPod literally burst into flames this morning about an hr ago while I am sitting at my desk. The thing just burst into flames and a ton of smoke which then brough the onlookers covering their noses to find out what happen.

When the fire ball first happened I threw it onto the floor which then burnt the crap out of the carpet.
I am still tramautized by this and may need to go home for the day.

No offense, but thats pretty awesome (not your misfortune, just how many people get to say that their ipod spontaneously combusted into a fireball)

I think you need to call Apple's corporate and see about getting a new one for free, might get a little compensation as well for your troubles if you raise a little hell about it bursting into a fireball, being a safety issue and all especially since I see little kids with them all the time.

Well I talked to Apple today and told them what the deal was and they keep asking the same questions over and over again like:

Apple Tech guy: Now the smoke you were talking about sir
Me: ya
Tech guy: did you have to get down on your hands and knees and crawl underneath it
me: no I just walked through it
tech guy: did you see flames
me: hell yes I did

so they want me to send it to them so they can look at it and replace it for me

That's freakin crazy Josh! I sorta had a similar situation with a 1st gen Ipod that quit working on me and was out of warranty. After that it sorta had a run in with the bandsaw and my mini-sledge hammer. I think Quinnie has video somewhere, I will have to dig it up.

You should put one of your bullet hole stickers on it before you send it in and see if they call you and say "sir, we've found the problem...we believe someone has shot your iPod"

That would almost be believable. I bet those suckers at Apple would buy it too. I mean who wouldn't.
