Meth Kit

Is it worth getting meth with out a stand alone? I was talking to some guys that said that meth kits are good buy they spray all the time. I know that Josh's doesnt do that but is that because of the stand alone? I want to get a the AEM meth kit its cheap and a good investment.

You can buy all the meth you need from the guy in trailer park down the street from you.

No, they don't spray all the time. They only spray when you tell them to, and that has nothing to do with the ECU. The meth kit should have its own controller that you tell when to spray and how much to spray based off your boost levels. Mine was set to start spraying at 16psi and only spray 100% at 26psi. The size of the nozzle and the way you tune it also affect how much is sprayed. The only relevance there is between an alky/meth kit and a standalone is the ability to add a safety mechanism.

I recommend considering E-85, since it costs a lot less, is far less dangerous, makes more power, and doesn't require a separate trip to Home Depot (alky) or wherever you plan to get your meth. The downsides of E-85 would be that not every station carries it, gas mileage suffers by 30% (worth the lower cost, but maybe not worth the less miles per tank if you drive long distances), and although you can have a backup tune for 91oct, you don't want to mix them.

Sorry, Mitch, don't be misled by my signature. The slower runs were at altitude here in CO, and the faster runs were closer to sea level, although at what most consider to be a "slower" track - Fontana @ ~1100'. I guess it would be kind of like running in Tucson, but Tucson is 3300', so I don't know. I was just glad to hit 11s although it wasn't very far into the 11s.

When I switched from alky to E-85, I made almost identical whp/wtq on the same dyno here in CO, but my plugs were unable to handle anything above 22-23psi due to how E-85 works. I fixed the problem by gapping a fresh set of plugs down to .019 and was able to run as much boost as I could give it. I coulf physically feel the improvement with the higher boost, so I would imagine I'd show gains now if I got back on the dyno. That will probably occur in the near future so that I have some tangible proof. It was at least good to see that I made the SAME power despite the lower boost levels and spark issues.
