New tires

So it's finally time to buy new tires. I wanted to step up to the 255/40/17's on the stock rims, but ive seen a lot of conflicting opinions on fitment and performance. 245/40's are out of the question, the speedo difference would be too great, my speedo is already off 3%

I was considering Falken ziex ze-512' or Kumho Ecsta ASX in 255/40/17's anyone have these on stock rims? Or any 255's on the stockers for that matter, and what are your opinions on the setup

I disagree on conflicting opinions of fitment/performance with 255/40s. There is no conflict and no fitment or performance issues with running 255/40s on the stock rims. The Falken Azeni RT-615 in 255/40 is the most common replacement tire for the stock Advans in the Evo community. I personally run them and have even raced them (road course) multiple times with great results. They fit very well, don't bulge, have a height that is very close to stock, and they don't rub.

The tires you mentioned are very poor with no performance relative to the RT-615 and other tires in its class (and above). Is that the type of tire you're planning to get? All-seasons for winter driving?

I'm planning on getting all seasons for winter, I can't afford at this point to have a set of winter and a set of summer tires.

So I'm looking for a decent set of all seasons to use for now, and should I get the money for a set of tires next summer, the all seasons would be relegated to winter use only

Ah, that's too bad, because the Evo on all-seasons is basically crippled in terms of handling. Tires are the most important factor.
