I got rare permission from the Mrs. to do some racing at night, since we have a 3-day weekend. It looks like 0% chance of rain after 4pm with temps dropping into the 60s and 50s. Other than the track imperfections at PMI, it should be a pretty ideal night for getting good trap speeds due to the conditions and the lowest altitude we have around here.
I plan to leave from the Springs around 3:30, since I like to get in line at the gate early in order to get in, get tech'd, get a spot, and get in line right away before it gets busy.
If anyone wants to roll, send me an email (warrtalon@gmail.com) or give me a call (202-413-3036). If you go later, just find me in the paddock area.
Meeting Henry at the Shell station on the Northwest corner of Academy and Woodmen at 3:30, then we'll hit 25 and head South. If anyone wants to join in, then either meet us there or wait for us to pass by an exit on 25 further South in the Springs.
Well every one post your times!! Ran my best time 11.97 at 115.65 and my best trap speed to date 118.96!! Had a freaking blast!!! Great time guys!! Thanks again Warrtalon for the tips!
Was a great night for going fast, but not so good for getting traction. Nevertheless, it was great to see a bunch of Evos (6-8?), and it was great for a couple of us to get some personal bests. Mine was 12.13 @ 114.11. Conditions were about perfect for power, but not getting to launch in the groove just killed us. I only had one 60' in the 1.7s, which is crazy for me, and it was my best time, of course. Hit a bunch of 12.2s and 12.3s with high 1.8s, so I'm looking forward to hooking at Bandi, although the traps may go down.
Previously, my best of 12.30 was at Bandi, but my best at PMI was only 12.41 with a 1.72 60' in the groove. Improving to a 12.13 on a lesser 60' out of the groove is good improvement, so my mods have increased power as expected.
It was awesome watching Corey finally get the hang of it and go from a 12.4 (several) to an 11.97 with nothing in between, haha. His traps were easy 11s, but the slippery launch and poor shifting were killing him. He then got a 1.75 and did a little powershifting and shaved off half a second.
