I'm new to Colorado. (I posted with some questions relating to the move a while back) I've got a few questions relating to license and registration. First, how quickly do I need to get a CO license and plates? Also, do I need to get emissions tested to do that? (I live in unincorporated Littleton) Finally, are there any dealerships that you guys would recommend to do warrenty work? I've read that Skyline and quality are NOT good to deal with, but I haven't seen anything about good dealerships in the area.
Thanks, in advance, for all the info!
Here's a pic of my car to spark your memories, for those of you who may have seen me around
Hello Neighbor (i live in L ton as well). A few answers to your questions.
1. yes you will need to get an emissions test when you register your car
2. you have 3 months (90 days) till you need change your license and register, since that is when you are an official "citizen"
3. if you need to borrow my stock exhaust to test let me know

Hey, I live in Arrowhead Shores (in Roxborough Village), do you live close by there? I might have to take you up on your offer for the stock exhaust!
what are the cross roads? I live off of federal and belleview...right near DEWEYS! come grab a drink thursday night if you are free, half off all drinks after 9! FTW!

I live down off of Wadsworth by Waterton. The cross streets near my house are Rampart Range and Village Circle east. It's a little out of the way, but a nice change from Silicon Valley! Also, I'd be down to meet with some fellow evo owners on Thursday. Could you PM me the address of where Dewey's is? I still don't know where anything is out here, LoL!
oh and def. let me know if you want to borrow the exhaust. I can lend a hand putting it on if you need one. just let me know
That would be great. I'll let you know when I need it. I'm going to hold out until June, because I'm getting AAA insurance, and I can go to there instead of the DMV to get my registration paperwork taken care of.
2 Cents- I don't believe you will need an emissions (not sure if your car being from out of state has any impact or not) I have an '05 and since my car is not yet 5 years old the state of Colorado did not require me to get an emissions to register. If anything it's worth giving the Motor Vehicle Depot a call.
That is true. But since he is coming from a new state and is registering his vehicle for the first time, i believe he may. Hopefully not though... i have heard horror stories and lived my own horror story when taking my evo to the dynometer... FTMFL

Yeah, I've heard people tell me both ways. I'm hoping that, by getting my stuff done through AAA, I might better my chances... who knows...

He wont' have to do emissions. When I moved here from SoCal in August 2006, I was not required to test with my IX MR which was registered in California. I doubt they have changed the policy since then. Just had to go get Colorado plates at the DMV. Also, you will need to get a VIN verification done. Basically go to a smog station, and someone will verify that your VIN is accurate and hasn't been tampered with. They will give you a piece a paper that you MUST have with you to get your plates. There may be other places to get this done, but I just did it at the nearest smog station.

Nice, I was hoping that would be the case. Thanks for the info.
