Suspensions.....

Hey guys,

My next mod will be a new suspension setup. I am getting a set of coilovers. I am not 100% sure which ones yet, but I am also trying to figure out which spring rate to get. Everybody's opinion is different on what is soft or hard. I am not sure if I am getting 8k/10k or 10k/12k. the car is mostly gonna be for the street with 4-5 track days (road racing) a year. Anyway, I am looking ofr somebody in Denver that has those spring rates in their cars so I could get a ride from them to see how stiff it really is. i understand that different setup and brand can also be a bit different, but it will give me an idea. Also, is anybody running the pic setup?

I currently have a 10k/8k set up on my car, I've been meaning to switch the springs around to put the softer ones in front. Ride is stiff, but not bad with the dampening turned down. Haven't been on a track with them, but I auto-x on them and they are plenty stiff.

I'm running the Tanabe Sustec Pro Seven setup, with the TEAS. I've got the 8/10k setup, but it's also available in a 10/12k. I really like being able to adjust the damping on the fly. It seems to make a pretty big difference. I've got 4 saved settings. one for soft, one for daily driving, one for hard, and one for auto-x.

If you want to drive to Littleton, I'd be happy to give you a ride.

Yeah, I might take you up on that offer next week. I have a super busy WE. Do you track you car? (roadracing)

I've only done auto-x on it so far. I've enjoyed the results around the parking lot. I've done some canyon driving on it as well. Handled well there too. From these experiences I'd guess that the suspension would be up to some road-racing. This being said, the main reason that I went with this setup is that the car remains my daily driver. So, I wanted something that could take the pot hole ridden "real world" roads as well as the smoother surfaces during track use. For instance, I was driving yesterday and came up to a construction zone. I pressed a button and went down to my "soft" setup. After I drove through the zone, I bumped back to my "daily driving" setup.

All in all, I'm sure there are a bunch of great suspensions that would pwn this one on the track. If lap times are your primary concern, you could get an Ohlins/Moton/RRE type suspension and be happier. However, if you want to enjoy the ride to and from the track, I'd still highly recommend this one.

Let me know if you want a ride, too. Sometimes there's no replacement for what the seat of your pants tell you!

Hey, I just realized that I gave you incorrect spring rates. I'm running a 10/12k setup, and the suspension is available in a "hard driving" version with 12/14k rates. Sorry for the mix up. Let me know if you ever want a ride!
