Who's Running e85

Hey fellas.

I was seeing who all is running e85 and how do you like it?

I saw the post where SuPeRNeT got his car tuned by JustDSM and he seemed pretty happy!

In SuPeRNet's post he said he is running e70, that's the winter blend... Correct?

For those of you running e85, what injectors are you running? I'm thinking i will need some 1000's to get the most out of my setup, but i'm worried that if i go back to my 91 tune it won't be able to idle very well.

Thanks.

Yep e70 till the summer.. I should be able to run some more timing up top on e85 so more power to be made!! Oh and justin has been working on my tune sence the dyno day and he added more timing so it doesnt drop off as much.. I'm using 880's and hitting 90% duty at about 26-27 psi I thought I would see higher. No need for an alky kit!!

I currently have a 3" TBE hallman boost controller and a twin disc.

I have a IX turbo sitting on the floor at my house, megan o2 and ebay 4" intercooler kit in the mail.

I want to be able to trap at about 106-110 at bandimere on turbo alone. I have a Nitrous Express kit that has been sitting in my garage waiting to be installed(still gathering some parts needed to install on the evo)

Im getting tuned for e85 at the next dyno meet.
I will be using 880cc injectors so I can still use 91 when I have to with no fuss.
Ive read you really dont need bigger unless you go with a larger turbo.

Supernet,
Have you noticed any cold start problems so far? Thats my only concern with it besides my stock clutch holding up on the dyno.

When you said you thought you'd need 1000cc due to your setup, I thought that meant you had a big turbo. If you only have a IX turbo, then you don't need 1000cc.

You can trap 106+ on 91, so your goal on "turbo alone" is really nothing. 110 can be done on alky or race gas with an VIII turbo. On my IX turbo with e-85, I'm hoping to be doing 113 or so.

do you think i trap 106+ on 91 without cams or meth? I think that is going to be pretty difficult.

Warrtalon:
are you going to be using Meth on top of e85?

Peopl are already trapping that high on 91 without cams or meth. I didn't even make a single HP with the addition of cams at this altitude, so they were no help in my case unfortunately. The IX turbo is a great little upgrade and although 106mph traps aren't a given, they can certainly be done with bolt-ons and 91oct on the IX turbo.

No, I'm going to E-85 so I can get rid of my alky kit but still have the 24/7 max power, remove the risk of alky, stop having to buy alky, and make more power (not a lot more, but more).

I'm thinking of going to E85 for the same reason! I just don't like the idea of meth!

Has anybody had any luck spraying nitrous on e85? with a wet kit the jetting on the fuel side will be a little different i know; but is there anything significantly different about spraying with e85 that i should know?

With a good tune, and the parts you've already got you should surpass 106mph.

With a "base" tune, MBC, TBE, and Air filter I went 105.5 on 91 octane and 22psi back in '04.

My tuning certainly has come quite a ways since then. And with you having a IX turbo, it should be a non issue.

Cool!!!

I think i may even spray like a 50shot down the road after i get everything else dialed in.

JustDSM: have you tuned any cars on nirtous? I think a 50 shot would do awesome on a car like mine.

Last year at bandimere there was 05 white evo sponsored by Carzperformance that went low 11's at 124ish. I talked to him about his car and he said(don't quote me) he had cams, springs, retainers, turbo back exhaust front mount and 125shot(I think) on race gas. That car was pretty f'n amazing!

Yeah, I've tuned EVO's on N20, but I don't like to unless the bottom end is done.

So you would not suggest running N20 with out the bottom end being built?

I wouldn't suggest running it at all, but at the very least not without the motor strengthened. Plenty of people do it, but plenty blow their engines without admitting to it, too.
