AFC Spec I not II

Ok...well, I just got an AFC Spec I today...I didn't buy it, I traded my Profec B Spec II boost controller for it plus the guy gave me a good amount of cash. The AFC is basically brand new.

I was just wondering if the differences between this and the AFC Spec II are much, and also will it still work well on an Evo?

What is so much better about Spec II anyway?

the better things about spec 2 is it can monitor more things at one time you can adjust the fuel in more incraments then the spec 1 and it has a knock sensor built it. I am not sure how well the knock sensor works with the evo but with a dsm it reads the values before the ecu filters out the extra noise so its not accurate. So pretty much you can make more fine adjustments and you can see more stuff on the screen at one time. that is what i know of at least

the knock sensor does not work well on the evo i tried. But i like the afc-2 cause you have 2 settings so if you dyno you can keep that setting.

So the only REAL advantage is that it has more increments...

Cause I could always write my settings down to save them (like I did with my DSMLink)

How many more increments are there? I have never used an AFC before, I was smart with my 2g an went straight to DSMLink...

Basically I'm trying to figure out if I should sell this AFC 1 and use the money to buy (well the car first but...) the AFC 2 for the Evo...

you can make changes every 500 rpm. The thing is if you have it run say 2% rich at 3k then at 3.5k make it run 4% rich it will make the car at 3.25k run 3% rich. It shows a graph thing. At least thats the understanging i get from what i have read and the way it displays on the screen. As i said you can see up to 4 things at a time. I have mine set as
volt
rpm
kar
then throttle %
I don't know if the old one did this but it also saves the highest readings
that you hit while the car ran. So mine will tell me the highest kar i hit while i drive the car or RPM what every you set it at for the highest reading.

If you're serious, go AEM EMS or Haltech. Skip the AFC altogether.

but, since I now own one...should I just use it. Or try to sell it?

i would say use it. My new dsm has a super afc and a super itc. I guess its as close to a stand alone as you can get with out a stand alone system. I have controll over the fuel and timing on the car.
