Downpipes without flex section

I just bought a Megan's DP and it does not have a flex section.

This seems to be common on most DP's.

Has this ever been an issue?

Nope My whole exhaust is welded up custom and no problems.

My AMS downpipe has a flex section but it is the one that comes with thier turbo kits. Their standard DP for the stock setup does not have one, nor does any other DP I've seen from other companies.

Never needed a downpipe with a flex section on my turbo kit at all, and have never had any issues with it.

I figured since I hardly see a DP with one that it would be ok.

The shop thats going to make my DP-back was nervous about it not having one, cause he saw a flex section on the stock pipe, then even mentioned cutting the DP and putting a flex section on it.

I'll just ensure him that it's not an issue.

If the downpipe were hard mounted to the O2 housing then I would definitely see a need to use a flex section (as in my AMS kit). However the stock setup uses spring bolts which flex to allow the pipe and O2 housing to move independently of each other somewhat.

... plus the doughnut gasket equals no issues.
